After a year and a half of marriage I had almost used all of our wedding gifts. My parents were in town and I offered to make breakfast.  I thought, what a perfect opportunity to use my Belgium waffle maker, the last unused gift!  After today I regret waiting so long to take this out of the box.  I forgot how much I loved waffles & how delicious they were.  The strawberries were a perfect complement.  Just so you don’t feel duped by the title this recipe is actually half whole wheat flour & half all-purpose flour.

Ingredients

1 cup whole wheat flour*
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
3 tablespoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups milk
1/2 cup water
3 eggs
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Mix dry ingredients and then add milk, water, eggs & vanilla. Mix well. Pour into waffle maker & cook according to their directions.  Serve as desired.
*Feel free to use two cups whole wheat flour instead of one & one.
